The Health and Safety Coordinator collaborates and partners with the Regional business unit General Manager to develop and implement Health and Safety systems and strategies that enables a positive safety culture to keep our people safe, healthy and well.
The Health and Safety Coordinator will provide advice, guidance, and support within a large and diverse business in a variety of work locations.
Mainly focusing on the Mine heath and safety within the groups network of concrete and quarry operations, as Health and Safety Coordinator you will - conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, safety audits and inspections to identify and support safety improvement activities whilst
ensuring compliance with relevant legislative obligations and specific project requirements.
This is a hands-on role, in a fast-moving work environment and you will be promoting and supporting a strong health, safety and environment culture across our workforce.
Key responsibilities:
Lead the implementation of Health and Safety and health and wellbeing
strategies
Coordinate the Health and Safety framework, including the administration of KPIs, targets and processes for Health and Safety and environmental performance to be monitored on site and to the client’s approval and requirements.
Maintain Health and Safety reporting systems and, actively engage with staff to facilitate a reporting culture to monitor incidents and injuries and identify risks.
Collaborate with staff to improve hazard inspections and internal audit processes on Health and Safety hazards and risks.
Liaise with stakeholders in the development and review of relevant safety strategies to manage areas of noncompliance.
Assist with Risk Assessments.
Coordinate the chemical safety within the workplace and design the management system to reduce the associated Risks
Assist with Workcover Claims Management and Return to Work Coordination when required for specific operations.
Assist with employee inductions & HR requirements when required.
Assist with the Management of the internal audit process for major projects and the preparation and submission to the client as required under the contract.
Must be available to visit other site locations as required
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Well-developed management skills such as planning, organizing and evaluation
Relevant qualifications (at a minimum CERT IV or Diploma in Work Heath & Safety)
Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety Legislation
Strong knowledge of acts, regulations codes of practice and standards
Operating knowledge of Heavy Plant & Equipment
Experience in working with HR on employee requirements
Experience in WHealth and Safety â preferably on project work
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHealth and SafetyAS 18001 desirable
Previous exposure in internal and external auditing
Current drivers licence
